About Our Founder

Jason Surratt, Founder and CEO of Sandy Soil Farms LLC has always been obsessed with natural and sustainable farming practices, raising livestock naturally, and building permanent ecosystems to produce healthy food.

After over a decade of dedicated learning and skill practice, Jason began to substantially ramp up his sustainable farming activities in early 2020. With Covid-19 impacts increasing in the US, he became concerned with the situation and negative impacts to food supply chains.

Origin of the Farm

Sandy Soil Farms Founder and CEO, Jason Surratt

2 years later, Jason had cleared multiple acres of nitrogen deficient woodlands on the property, established green pastures for pastured laying hens from the worst of sandy soils, installed fencing for a pastured pork operation, and had built a new quail and hatchery operation.

“I established Sandy Soil Farms in 2020, based on my deep instinctual desire to provide nutrient rich food for my community, while tackling the challenges of building soil health in adverse conditions.” -Jason Surratt, Founder of Sandy Soil Farms LLC

“For the past 2 years, my family has been able to eat healthy chicken eggs, quail eggs, natural quail meat, and the best porkchops I have ever tasted! All while having fun, enjoying the animals, and learning more everyday.”

The Future of Sandy Soil Farms

Jumbo Coturnix Quail Cages

“I have had the great fortune to provide our naturally raised food products to my family, friends, and community. However, we have had much more demand for pastured chicken eggs, natural quail eggs, and fantastic pork products than we can handle with our current infrastructure.”

“We are continuing to invest and grow our current egg, quail, and pork operations while adding both a Quail Hatchery and a Chicken Hatchery.

“We are proud and excited to announce the addition of our Hatchery business. We look forward to providing our customers with high quality Quail Chicks, Quail Hatching Eggs, Chicken Hatching Eggs, and Chickens”.
